Our Work with Schools

Since 1991 Point of Contact has run assemblies and lessons in over 20 Primary and Secondary schools.  Since 2007 these visits have been with one or more of Point of Contact’s Ethiopian partners taking place between March and April of each year.  We have addressed Global issues connected to the topic of Fair Trade that have links with the PSHE, RE and Citizenship Curricula.

Some of the students’ feedback shows how young people have viewed our work:

“I really enjoyed your talk.” Rachel, Year 6

“I would like to thank you very, very much for turning my views completely around about Fair Trade… Your presentation has changed a huge part of me and it will do for the rest of my life as well.  You have done your job with me very well and you have succeeded in notifying and teaching me about this subject.” Ben, Year 9.

“I am writing this letter to thank you for the presentation that was given.  It really opened my eyes to the unfairness and injustice in the trade system.  I knew the facts and figures before I attended your presentation but they didn’t make an impact, but for you laying it down straight, you did.”  Robin, Year 9

“I wanted to tell you how much your words effected me, and how it has inspired me to help make a difference.” Rosie, Year 10

“I am writing to thank you for your time and support for our enterprise day…  Your subject, “Fair-trade in an Unfair World” had a major impact on our Year 10 boys; so too did your delivery.  Our Head of History said that your presentation was very good and highly thought provoking.” Sue Long, Business and Enterprise College Director
